For starters, my name is Ryan Boydstun and I have been going to UVU for a bit now, finally focusing on what I want to do, and thats film. For a while I thought I wanted to be in the Games and Animation track at UVU, and after some time I learned that what I really wanted to do all this time was film. Creating and crafting a story that is important and moving is what is so important to me, and I want to be able to do that. To be vulnerable for a moment, only in the past few years have I realized that I want to focus more on art instead of technology or computer science. For a long time in my life everyone around me had the expectation that I was "smart" and was going to do something with computers because I enjoy video games and LEGO so much. Growing up with that expectation and realizing I had more of a love for storytelling took some time. Even though I wanted to get into writing my own stories and acting, I always thought it was never going to happen and I have a specific road ahead of me that I cannot stray from. Only recenetly have I decided I want to take control, and I want to act and write. For acting I have decided to take the approach of just going out and doing it, and taking classes to learn writing. I feel like with Acting I want to learn by hands on experience in the field, starting with whatever I can get and going from there. However I still need and want to refine my writing, which is why I am hoping to take the writing track at UVU. There are so many stories in my head that are such a total mess, but I want to get them out there. And whatever challenges come my way, be it from myself or from my journey in filmmaking, I am going to take them on.Â
